Atari ST to Composite, S-video, & VGA (color)
« on: March 06, 2010, 03:35:38 PM »

Following the successful effort with a slight modification of the S-video adapter of the Amiga ..
Series has a connection with the mini VGA converter from S-video HQ signal of course ..
And the inclusion of two to one, with enough work and selector switches signal coming ....
Input video: Composite, S-video, SVGA 31Kz, and CGA RGB-15Kz (important for old machines)
Outputs video: Composite, S-video, SVGA 31Kz ie modern monitor.
Of course, the device supports "already" the Amiga, and the next attempt will be on the RGB of the ZX Spectrum +3, not by H & V but Csync & RGB

thanks.
hm.. not sure a little every day in free time..
all converters is rdy (svideo from amigamaniac) VGA converter from China.. all cost 40 euro, except the extras and the time..
so.. Amiga is easy to connecting via cables with that 2 deferents converters ,the dificult is the Atari ,that needed some extra resistors on the RGB signal to working.
for ZX+3 is more difficult because has a "less"  signal than Amiga and Atari.. and not H & V sinc, has only Csync.
i keep working on ZX+3 ..

Hey I've just ordered what looks like the same s-video to vga box for my cd32. :)

Its a bit late now but would you recommend the vga box that your using? I wanted to hook my cd32 upto my 22" lcd seeing as the picture was just ok-ish on my old scart tv.

s-video converter converter

vga converter

Yep it looks the same as the one I got: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110516647922&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

My monitor is currently only used for my 360 (my desktop pc died a while ago) so I'm looking forward to a better picture via s-video with this box for my cd32 (plus its fairly cheap). :)

dunno nothing about CD32.. has RGB vdeo out ? if yes, you can connect the s-video adapter first and send the s-video signal to vga converter. that all.

here is on my A1200 > http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=50252

Have you both converters? (Amiga-RGB to Svideo), (Svideo to VGA) ?
You mean on CD32 is working, and not on Amiga?

I've only got a cd32 (and they come standard with s-video) so I'm only using the s-video to vga adaptor. The picture is fine but I just can't seem to get colour?

also this can help you..
(from wikipedia)
Quote
Like all later Amiga computers, the CD32 has a hidden boot menu that can be accessed by plugging an Amiga mouse into port 2 and holding both buttons down while turning the system on. Most of the options in this menu are not useful on a CD32, but from this menu you can choose to boot in either NTSC  or PAL mode. This is important, as there are some games that will refuse to work if the system is in the wrong mode, since most games don't advertise what video mode they were developed for. It should also be pointed out that despite the naming, the menu really only allows a choice of 60 Hz or 50 Hz video output; a PAL system booted in NTSC mode will still output a video signal using PAL color encoding, which will usually result in a black and white picture when connected to an NTSC television.

I tried all the options on the box and its still the same... plus I already tried the hold the mouse down to boot the screen options on the cd32 and it made no difference.

I just hooked my cd32 up to my tv downstairs via s-video and that worked first time in colour? ...so that makes me think theres a problem with the convertor box I just purchased? :(
